Eisenhower Matrix

Urgent vs. Important. Strategic filtering.

What is important is seldom urgent and what is urgent is seldom important.
— Dwight D. Eisenhower
The Criticism

The 'Important but Not Urgent' quadrant (Q2) is almost always ignored in favor of urgent fires.

The Smart Solution

Adaptive Q2 Guard. The system literally blocks Q1 (Urgent/Important) tasks until at least one Q2 strategic task is completed.

The Tyranny of the Urgent

We are biologically wired to respond to ‘Urgency’ (a Slack ping, a fire) rather than ‘Importance’ (building your long-term ip). This is how founders burn out while their businesses stagnate.

The Smart Matrix

We’ve built a Hard Filter based on the Eisenhower lens:

  1. The Q2 Lock: Every morning, the ‘Frog’ you must eat is a Q2 task. The system won’t surface your ‘Urgent’ notifications until the Q2 mission is verified.
  2. The Deletion Engine: The system analyzes your ‘Q4’ (Not Urgent/Not Important) activities and suggests ways to automate or delete them permanently.

Implementation Checklist

  • Identify your Q2: What is the ONE thing that, if done daily, would make everything else easier?
  • Set the Q2 Guard: Use the Smart Notes settings to enable ‘Deep Work Mode’ for all Q2-tagged nodes.

Deploy this protocol with Smart Notes.
